Message from Our Presidents:
               Ric Hinkie and Tom Herman

We have had a great year of interesting meetings, both group and individual fishing trips, and we have been helping wounded veterans get into fly fishing.  We had a casting clinic this fall.  Checkout the newsletter button above.  There was lots of fishing all summer and fall.  The Gila Trout are the big news, but recent stocking of Albino trout in the city lakes and the Tiger Trout in the Rim lakes are exciting additions to the Rainbows that are regularly stocked in the streams and lakes.

Dorothy Howell continues to do great work as Secretary/Treasurer as well as the  Holiday Team Leader, Project Healing Waters Chef and so many other things.  As a volunteer organization, great volunteers makes our job very easy.

Our relationship with Gila Chapter 530 of Trout Unlimited is better than ever, with several of our recent meetings featuring updates on what TU plans for Arizona and the Southwest.  Nearly $1,000,000 has been earmarked for projects in and around our area.   See you on Zoom last Saturday of the month.  Use button on page 1 to connect easily.

Tiger Trout Now Stocked in Rim Lakes

Tiger trout, a cross between a brown and a Brook trout, will be stocked in Woods Canyon, Willow Springs and other Rim lakes according to Arizona Game and Fish.  These trout are a bit more aggressive and will, hopefully enjoy eating the Green Sunfish that are prevalent in the lakes.

Club Works with Wounded Veterans

Project Healing Waters from Phoenix returned to Payson's Green Valley Lakes in 2019.

Flycasters and TU 530 provided fishing coaches, donuts and coffee and a chili lunch.  The trout were hiding deep in the lake, but Crappie and Sunfish were abundant.  Several vets took home fish for dinner.

The club has already invited the group back for a Spring outing.  The fish are reportedly nervous.

Future Sponsored Trips

Watch here for potential trips.   Silver Creek in October, Lazy Trout in Greer, local trips on the East Verde and Tonto, Rim lakes too.
